AURDINO UNO
The Arduino Uno is a small, easy-to-use computer board that helps you build electronic projects. It is based on a chip called the ATmega328P and is very popular for learning and making things like robots, sensors, and smart devices. The board has 14 digital pins and 6 analog pins that you can connect to lights, buttons, motors, and sensors. You can power it with a USB cable or a battery.
People use the Arduino Uno because it's simple to understand, even for beginners. You write code using the free Arduino software, and then send it to the board to control what it does. It’s great for school projects, DIY gadgets, and learning how electronics work. Many people around the world use Arduino, so it’s easy to find help, ideas, and tutorials online. Overall, Arduino Uno is a fun and powerful tool for anyone interested in technology.
Smart Irrigation System Using Arduino and IoT-Based Soil Moisture Monitoring
The image illustrates an IoT-based soil moisture monitoring system using Arduino technology. At the core of the setup is an Arduino Uno microcontroller, which reads data from a capacitive soil moisture sensor. This sensor accurately measures the moisture content in the soil without corroding over time, unlike resistive sensors. The system displays real-time soil moisture levels on a 16x2 LCD screen for easy monitoring. It also features LEDs to indicate different moisture levels and includes a water pump module controlled via a relay. When soil moisture falls below a certain threshold, the Arduino activates the relay to turn on the pump, automating irrigation. The use of a breadboard allows for easy circuit prototyping and wiring. This type of smart irrigation system is ideal for agricultural applications, helping conserve water and ensuring crops receive adequate moisture, improving efficiency and productivity.

MOISTURE SENSOR
A moisture sensor is a device used to measure the amount of water in the soil. It helps in knowing whether the soil is dry, moist, or wet. In simple terms, it checks how much water is available for plants in the ground. There are different types of moisture sensors, but one common type is the capacitive soil moisture sensor, which is shown in your image.
This sensor works by sending electrical signals through the soil and measuring how much the signal changes. Wet soil allows electricity to pass through more easily than dry soil. The sensor sends this data to a microcontroller like Arduino, which can then show the moisture level on a screen or use it to turn on a water pump.
Moisture sensors are very useful in farming, gardening, and smart irrigation systems, because they help save water and keep plants healthy by only watering when needed.

LCD DISPLAY
An LCD display (Liquid Crystal Display) is a small screen used in electronics to show text or numbers. The most common type in Arduino projects is the 16x2 LCD, which can display 2 lines with 16 characters on each line.
This display is often used to show information like sensor readings, time, temperature, or messages. It works by using liquid crystals that change how light passes through them when electricity is applied. The LCD connects to the Arduino using several wires, but with an I2C module, it can work with just 2 wires (SDA and SCL), making it easier to use.
In projects like a smart irrigation system, the LCD display can show the soil moisture level, whether the pump is ON or OFF, or any alerts. It helps users quickly see what's happening in the system without needing a computer or phone. It’s simple, low-power, and very useful for many DIY projects.
